Location: Remote - Texas only.

Eligibility: Toys for Texans is fully in-person and hires from all Texas cities. At this time, we are only considering candidates who are eligible to work in the United States. Applicants must be age 14 - 22. 

JOB HIGHLIGHT

As the Maintenance Officer, your primary responsibility will be to maintain and care for the little libraries in various locations. Your driving skills and proficiency in using tools will be essential in ensuring that these community assets remain accessible and functional.

JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Officer plays a crucial role in the organization's efforts to promote literacy and community engagement through little libraries. By regularly inspecting, repairing, and restocking these libraries, you contribute to their sustainability and positive impact on the neighborhoods they serve.

YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR . . . 

• Conducting routine maintenance checks on little libraries to ensure they are in good condition and identifying any repairs needed.

• Repairing and fixing minor damages, such as broken doors, shelves, or signs, using appropriate tools.

• Restocking little libraries with books and reading materials to maintain a diverse and engaging collection.

• Keeping records of maintenance activities and reporting any significant issues to the appropriate department.

• Collaborating with volunteers and community members to involve them in little library upkeep.

YOU MUST HAVE . . . 

• A valid driver's license and the ability to drive to different little library locations.

• Proficiency in using basic tools and equipment for repairs and maintenance tasks.

• Strong attention to detail to identify and address any issues promptly.

• Physical stamina to carry out maintenance tasks and restocking of books.

• Excellent communication skills to interact with volunteers and community members.

IT’S AN ADDED PLUS IF YOU HAVE:

• Previous experience in maintenance work or a related field.

• Familiarity with carpentry, woodworking, or basic construction skills.

• Passion for literacy and community engagement.
